The RNT Medical College was founded on 13th Nov,1961 at Udaipur.The first batch was twined with then Jaipur batch.This first batch was nursed and developed by S.M.S Jaipur for one year.The batch consisted of 40 students-30 boys& 10 girls.Afterwards on an average,100 students were admitted every year.The college was initially looked after by patron Dr. R.M Kashliwal who was then Principal & Controller of S.M.S Medical College, Jaipur.He handed over the charge to then P&C Dr.B.N Sharma in 1962.

The College is situated in the heart of a city of lakes,temples,gardens,places & institutions ie Udaipur.Udaipur is a historic city known for bravery and sacrifices.Now the College is running in the 40th year and in these years,it has expanded from little Salumbar house to M.B Govt.Hospital,TB Hospital,Bari,Rehabilitation Centre and School of nursing,P.D Zanana Hospital,Skin Hospital,Cardiology Ward,Nephrology Wing,Neurosurgery Wing,Burn Wing and many more to come up like Psychiatry Hospital,Trauma Hospital etc.

A modern building named in the honour of first P&C,Late Dr.B.N Sharma,caters to the need of undergraduate and Post-Gradeuate students&staff. The first batch of young doctors passed out from this institution in 1966.

In 1963,the new department of Medicine,Surgery,Medical Jurisprudence,PSM,ENT,Orthopaedics,Gynae,Paediatrics,Psychiatry and radiology came into existence.All were situated in one of the building then known as General Hospital and now called in the name of Late Last Ruler of Mewar, Honourable Sh.Bhupal Singh.

The RNT Medical College is amongst the first 26 institutions of medical teaching in the country.Several times international,national and state level conferences had been held in the campus and have been highly successful.

Gradually new departments have come up.With time,Department of Neurology,Nephrology,Cardiology,Urology,Neurosurgery & Radiotherapy were added.New buildings for Paediatrics,Gynae,cardiology,Nephrology,Urology,Neurosurgery & Dermatolog  also added.Almost all departments have upgraded P.G courses.

A swimming pool has been constructed for the benefit of the students,staff and their families.Adequate facilitiesfor accomodation to students in the form of Junior Boys',Senior Boys' Hostel,P.G Hostel,Senior Girls Hostel and Junior Girls' Hostel and residentisl quaters have been constructed within the campus.All modern facilities like CTV,Water Cooler,desert Cooler,Telephones,Indoor-Outdoor games and Mess facilities are available.for money transaction,a bank(SBBJ) is also working within the campus.

Due importance is accorded to social extra-curricular activities of the students which includes freshers'day,annual college week,Sports and games,college picnic,farewell to outgoi8ng batch etc.A wall magazine and publication ofcollege magazine yearly is maintained with the active participations of students.students organize Life Science Exhibition from time to time to educate pibluc about health problems.
